Pre / Post-Op Guidelines

We understand that many of you may experience some anxiety prior to an operation / surgery. For this reason we have compiled some general guidelines to help you before your operation. We would like to make your situation as comfortable as possible and to keep you fully informed at all times.

Pre Surgery:

  • Prior to your operation, you will receive a call from one of our office staff. They will discuss with you the details of your surgery appointment.
  • You may need to visit the hospital to conduct the appropriate tests. This to will be confirmed by our office staff.
  • Eating Instructions: you may not eat or drink anything after midnight the night prior to your operation. This is very important in preparing your body for surgery. Also, please note you should abstain from the consumption of alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours prior to your surgery.
  • You will receive a phone call from the hospital the night before your surgery to give you the time to arrive at the hospital.
  • You will not be allowed to drive yourself home after surgery. Please make arrangements ahead of time for transportation.

Post Surgery:
  • Please ensure you rest for the appropriate amount of time. Although you may feel better, the doctor usually knows best, and you do not want to risk injury.
  • After the surgery, please call or email the office to schedule your post-op visit.
  • Any questions? Please call us (Bridgeport: 203/372-4565; Shelton: 203/922-7777).
